camp update from week #9

hello! sorry i haven't been on here in a while. things have been pretty crazy here recently! here is my update from this past week!

It’s here, week #10 of teen and junior camp! I really can’t believe that we are already here! This past week was an awesome week of camp! Rich Tozour was the speaker for teen camp and Jeremy Frazor was the speaker for junior boot camp. I’ve heard Rich Tozour preach before and I really enjoyed his preaching this week. I had a great group of girls in my prayer cabin this week! They were so much fun to be around and I was able to get to know them pretty well.

This whole summer I’ve been learning about how much I need to rely on God, and not myself. On Friday, we had a massive thunderstorm come into camp. It was rather crazy! Our first shift dinner got delayed almost 30 minutes. Because of this, everything was going to be really late. So, we had to re-set most of the dinning hall in 15 minutes. This process usually takes us about 30 minutes, but in order to keep the schedule on time, we had to rush. I got to the point where I needed to realize that I could not do it on my own human strength, I needed to rely on God. So at that point, I asked God to give me the strength because I couldn’t do it on my own. It was unbelievable the amount of strength He gave me! We were able to finish up in time for the next shift of campers to come in. God showed Himself mighty by giving all of us the strength.

Sunday night we had our Staff Appreciation Banquet where we were able to have great food, and honor some of the staff members. It was a wonderful night!

Please pray for this upcoming week, that us as a staff will have strength and that the campers hearts (along with ours) will be tender towards the preaching of God’s Word.

Well, i am sad to say that this is our last week of teen camp. This summer has absolutely flown by! I feel like I just arrived here for the beginning of the summer! I have made great memories along the way, and God has taught me many things this summer.

camp update from week #6

Well we are looking towards the end of summer now! we are entering week 7 of camp today, and I can’t believe that this summer is almost over!!! A year ago today, was when I did CIT and started working here after my CIT session. It’s crazy to see how God has lead my path right back to the Wilds to work here the whole summer this year!

This past week was an amazing week for me! I had the best aisle to serve that I have ever had, and I had an amazing prayer cabin! I was able to counsel one of the girls in my prayer cabin about standing up for Christ. It was awesome to see how she wanted to live for Christ, in what seemed like a rough school situation. Please pray for her especially once school starts. She goes to a public school and it does not seem like a good place at all. On Friday night, I was also able to talk to the same girl, and another girl from my prayer cabin. Both of them wanted to be better witnesses for Christ everywhere they went!!! It’s just so awesome to see God work in the lives of these campers!

This past week we had Dr. Jim Shettler preaching in teen camp. I had never heard him, or heard of him before, and he was an amazing preacher! Monday night was not one of your typical “Monday night at camp” messages. He preached on rebellion, and during part of his message he talked abut God’s will for our lives. He compared it to giving someone a present on Christmas, and being so excited about giving it to them. God is so excited about His plans for our lives, He just can’t wait to show them to us! This really gave me peace about my future. God has it all under control! I just need to submit to Him, and let Him work in my life!

This past week, we had our SPP banquet at Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. It was a wonderful evening and I wish you could’ve come to it!

God is working in awesome ways here at camp! I can’t wait to see what He’s gonna do the rest of the summer! Please pray for all of us as a staff, that we will have strength to finish out the rest of the summer. It is definitely at a point in the summer where we are all exhausted, but we still have 4 weeks of teen camp left!

Thank you so much for praying!

His will for my life.

now, when you read the title of this post, you might be surprised that this actually came from a message on rebellion...but it did! and i promise it will all make sense! (at least i hope it will) :) monday night, the preacher here at camp talked about rebellion, and part of themessage he talked about God's will for our lives. now, this past weekend, i learned more about the reality of how when you're in God's will you will be the happiest you can be. all of a sudden, i realized that i was extremely happy working here at camp, and it really hit me about how i'm in God's will working down here! i don't know why it took me 6 weeks to figure it out...but it did! ok, back to monday night! so he was talking about God's will for our lives and how God's plan for our lives are perfect for us. i got really excited about seeing what God has for my life. like that night i just felt like squealing and giggling because i was just so excited to see what God's going to do in my life! it's really neat, to think thatGod has my future planned out just for me, just what i need, when i need it, and how i need it. it's so amazing for me to think about that! i am so thankful that i don't need to figure out my own life. at times i feel like i just want to take control and figure everything out myself, but God is really in control and i know He will take care of me, and give me the best life i could ever imagine!

camp update week #5

well here is my first update from camp! (at least for the blog) this is an update from last week here at camp!

Well, 1/2 the summer is already done! But we still have 1/2 the summer in front of us. This summer has absolutely flown by and I know I say this but I really can’t believe that today starts week 6!!! So crazy!!! This past week was a great week, and a stretching week for me. The stretching part started for me last Saturday when I had to take my computer down to the apple store to have them fix it. When I got down there, they told me that they would have to send it out for repair and would send it back to me in 3-5 days. Well, I send all my SPP letters from my computer. I still hadn’t sent or even typed my SPP letter yet! But thankfully my sister had her ipad here so I could type out my letter and send it to you all. On Monday, right before check-in started, we had a huge thunderstorm start going through camp, and the power went out. The power was out for over an hour. We had thunder/rain storms almost everyday including our hike day where we did the whole hike out to the waterfalls. But God was good through all of this!

John Goetsch from West Coast Baptist Bible College was the speaker for teen camp this past week, and Ed Dunlop was the speaker for Junior Boot Camp this past week. I was able to go to most of the services in teen camp and listen to John Goetsch preach. Friday night was a huge blessing to me. It reminded me that the best place I can be is in the center of God’s will. Just then, I realized that I was extremely happy working down here at camp. At first this summer, I was scared, and nervous, and I just wanted to go home and spend my summer with my friends and family up north. But I realized that it would’ve been totally out of God’s will, and His will for me this summer is to be down here and I’m so thankful for that!

Please pray for me and the rest of the staff as this week as it is week 6 and we have a very full camp this week. Please pray that we will all stay healthy and keep our focus on why we are here!
